SSB... Wondering what it stands for? Well, Sondela Share Block. This is the accommodation part of a lodge, this includes chalets, tented camp, caravan park and the guesthouse. This is also the most important part of a lodge, without this part of a business there wouldn't be a business. Now, SSB's job is to clean the accommodation. Now believe me, I was surprised when I walked into this new course to discover, it's much more than just cleaning. The amount of paperwork that goes along with this department is astonishing. Our first week was spent learning about all the different chemicals and the color coding of the cloths that go with which chemicals. We learned about protective gear and why it needs to be used and also with which chemicals these protective clothing is needed.
Our whole first week, we focused on Safety and Security in the workplace.
We learned what to be on the look out for in terms of broken appliances, faulty equipment, fires and even suspicious items. We learned about the procedures that need to be followed in these kinds of situations. Plus we did some filing.
