Game capturing

There are three different methods of game capturing, two of them I have now done and one I've already blogged about a while ago.  Now I'm going to tell you about chemical game capturing.  A licensed vet needs to be on the scene that makes the dosages and shoots the animal with the dart.  We surround the animal, so that it doesn't run away and then passes out somewhere in the bush.  We wait until their knees buckle and then we move in. They try and make the animal walk towards the vehicle as much as possible since they are very heavy.  The animal knees gives in and he just sits, his tongue hanging out and his eyes droopy.  With the help of many hands, the animal is put onto a stretcher and then loaded onto the vehicle which will transport it to the bigger truck taking it to a new farm.  There may be many reasons for capturing and selling or trading of animals.  Here are a few pictures of my experience.

Check out the tongue.

Who looks silly?  You do!

Proud moment, but man those horns were heavy.
Check out their tails, aw cute.
